Whisperwood: Bio

The Whisperwood Experience:

Whisperwood is a progressive acoustic fantasy narrative and an unforgettable experience. Whisperwood is more than a band playing songs; with over two hours of music and 20 years in the making it is an epic event. Those who fathom its depths do more than listen, they explore!

Immerse yourself in Whisperwood, and be taken away on a musical, spiritual, and emotional journey. Hearken back to the days when listeners reveled in an entire album in a single sitting. Delight in Whisperwood as a whole, rather than as individual tracks. Relish Whisperwood in solitude with lyrics in front of you. Whisperwood is best experienced old school style--as an album, a story told from beginning to end. Partake holistically and you'll be richly rewarded!

The Whisperwood Story:

Elvin brothers Elric and Lokai are opposites, yet counterparts. The brothers become traveling minstrels whose music has the power to heal others as well as themselves. Whisperwood is ultimately the story of Lokai’s redemption from vengeance to compassion.

Whisperwood History:

In 1988, Eric, Dave and their band were just days away from moving to Jamaica to write music on a secluded beach, but hurricane Gilbert devastated the island and thwarted their plans. Undaunted, they eventually moved to San Diego, CA, where Whisperwood was conceived. Whisperwood soon took on a life of its own, with a magic that captures the hearts of all who lend an ear. Whisperwood evolved in some fashion every year between 1990 and 2008, and will likely continue to grow well into the future. There is currently an effort to bring it to the stage as a theater piece. Whisperwood is Eric’s life work shared with the world.

The band has an unrivaled chemistry, having worked, played, and lived together for two decades. They sound like their primary musical influences: Rush, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, and Pink Floyd.

Eric - Guitar, Creative Director

“Culture of dominion relinquish your control, remember the forgotten harmony of old.”

“The single most significant thing you can do to benefit yourself, those you love, and indeed all life is to explore and discover personal connection to the natural world.”

“The raven is not ravenous, the wolf is not lupine; civilized is savage and water is not wine.”

bio - eric

As an artist, philosopher, and natural history interpreter, Eric foreshadows an approaching renaissance. Specifically, Eric is a musician, digital graphic artist, interpreter of natural and cultural history, 2-D & 3-D artist, audio engineer, lyricist, dreamer, idealist, fantasist, visionary, philosopher, and father.

Eric began playing guitar at the fairly late age of 17. Three years later he formed a band with his friends Dave LeVardi and Chris Chamberlain. However, the fledgling band did not spread its wings until the addition of drummer, Marc Tropeano (Trope). Eric spent 13 years as guitarist, lyricist, and leader in the progressive rock band Sleeping White Dragon in San Diego, CA. Sleeping White Dragon produced two CDs, the first in 1996, the second in 1998.

Now that Eric has recorded Whisperwood, his life’s work, he plans to bring the project to the stage as a theater piece, a rock opera, if you will. He also intends to play Whisperwood live. When Eric gets his fill of Whisperwood he’ll turn his attention to one of his four other concept albums.

Dave - Vocals, Guitar

“It’s the Wood that makes it Good”

 bio - dave

Dave is a spiritual family man who also enjoys laughing, travel, hiking, making a difference, and sports. Okay, he actually really loves sports, even more than he enjoys Seinfeld. He even spent some years at Qualcomm Stadium as the Public Address announcer for the San Diego Padres. He coaches youth baseball and soccer and looks forward to many more years of fun with his wonderful wife Rebecca and 4 children.

Dave was born with rhythm, but it took him a while to find harmony. In addition to sports, he began playing trumpet in school, and with his mother’s and grandfather’s spark of encouragement he found himself in Marching and Jazz Band. However, Dave was always a rocker at heart, and fell in love with Heavy Metal at an early age. In 1986, he and Eric started a band with a message; the only path they could imagine. As part of the bands’ driving force, Dave wrote music of Peace, Love, and Truth.

Dave looks forward to recording a CD of his solo acoustic songs that are waiting on the shelf. Dave’s kids love his music, a strong motivator to record. Dave has mellowed nicely with age, but still loves to rock! He will always be a dreamer, and believes in the spirit and magic of Whisperwood. He hopes you will too.

Sean - Guitar

"It's not your job to be as confused as Nigel.”

"You can't polish a turd."

“Music is my sanctuary - a special, secret gift that I carry in my head and hold sacred."

"Fire, walk with me."
